Rajeev Ranjan is part of the Joint PhD Programme of UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden.

Rajeev Ranjan’s research interests span energy transitions, climate change, socio-economic transformations, mining and land use. His doctoral work investigates post-mining regional transitions using the resource nexus and just transition approaches in coal-extractive regions. By combining interdisciplinary research with grassroots engagement, he aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical solutions.

Previously, he was engaged with the FossilExit research group, where he contributed to research on socio-technical imaginaries of just energy transition and bottom-up approaches to equitable and sustainable transitions. He was awarded nine-month scholarship at the International Sustainability Academy in Hamburg, where he conducted research on sustainable transitions in coal-mining geographies, contributing to the broader discourse on climate action and regional resilience. He has also worked with government and leading environmental and public policy think tanks in India.
