Ambassador Kuni Sato held three bilateral and three multilateral overseas posts in addition to working in the fields of legal, trade, cultural, and regional affairs in Tokyo during her four-decade diplomatic career.

Ambassador Sato was appointed as Minister, Japanese Mission to the EU, Brussels, in 2004, and Minister/Deputy Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva in 2007.

Between 2015 and 2017, Ambassador Sato served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO. In 2017, she was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Hungary.
