Catarina Madaleno is a Junior Research Consultant at the United Nations University (UNU-EGOV) since 2023.
She graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Physics Engineering Sciences from the School of Science and Technology from Nova University Lisbon. She is currently developing her Master's Thesis on machine learning applied to spatial data and its efficacy in understanding urban dynamics as a UNU-EGOV project. She is expected to be graduating in November 2023 with a degree of Master of Physics Engineering from University of Minho.
Prior to working at UNU-EGOV, she worked as a sales promoter on several occasions, developing her individual work skills. She also worked as a warehouse operator and retail worker. Besides her work experience, she has participated in the Erasmus+ programme in Sweden. She has also undergone several internships about physics and electronics, one of them at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, and attended the Portuguese National Meeting of Physics Students (ENEF) for 4 years.
Her research interests include machine learning, physics, emerging technologies, and e-Government. She is also an activist in movements focused on women’s rights, climate justice, students' rights, and LGBTQIAP+ rights.
