Hanna Berkel is a Research Fellow at UNU-WIDER based in Mozambique and working on the Inclusive growth in Mozambique – scaling-up research and capacity programme.
She is a development economist with a multidisciplinary background in microeconomic empirical methods, qualitative methods, political economy, informality, and enterprises.
Hanna has published in World Development and the Journal of Development Studies. She has been the field coordinator of the data collections in Mozambique that produced the enterprise datasets used in her articles.
Before joining UNU-WIDER, Hanna pursued her PhD at the University of Copenhagen. She has previously worked in East Africa and Latin America.
