UNU Resource Nexus and the Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) have taken a further step towards strengthening the governance of their joint postgraduate education programmes with the first annual general meeting of the Governance Board for Joint Postgraduate Education (GBJPE), held on 20 July 2026.
Professor Serena Coetzee, Head of Education and Capacity Development at UNU Resource Nexus, notes that “the meeting marked an important milestone in a partnership that has supported joint postgraduate research and education since 2015.”
The GBJPE was established under the recently revised and signed Supplemental Agreement between UNU and TU Dresden on Collaboration in Postgraduate Education. It serves as a consultative body for academic matters related to the collaborative programmes and provides a framework for their joint governance.
The meeting included the presentation and discussion of the 2025 GBJPE Annual Report, which highlights the history of the collaboration, the joint postgraduate programmes, key statistics and activities undertaken during the year.
The establishment of the GBJPE and the annual meeting provide a strengthened platform for UNU Resource Nexus and TU Dresden to review progress, exchange perspectives and discuss strategic priorities for joint postgraduate education.
