Dr. Deema Almasri is a policy researcher and environmental scientist with specialization in sustainability, environmental studies, water resources, and water treatment technologies, including wastewater treatment and reuse.

Dr. Deema Almasri is a policy researcher and environmental scientist with specialization in sustainability, environmental studies, water resources, and water treatment technologies, including wastewater treatment and reuse. Her work encompasses environmental impact assessments of water systems and the formulation of evidence-based policy recommendations to address regional and global water security challenges. At UNU-INWEH, Dr. Almasri focuses on enhancing resource management in arid regions such as Qatar and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, to enhance resilience to climate change.

Among Dr. Almasri's achievements are the Arab-American Frontiers Award by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the Women in Science Fellowship, jointly awarded by CRDF Global, the U.S. National Science Foundation, and the Qatar Foundation Research Fund (QNRF). In addition to her role at UNU, Dr. Almasri serves as a senior policy associate at Earthna-A Center for Sustainability within the Qatar Foundation, Doha, Qatar. She received her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and her Ph.D. in Sustainable Environment from Hamad Bin Khalifa University at Qatar.
