Martiwi Diah Setiawati is a Research Fellow and Academic Associate for the Water and Resource Management Programme at UNU-IAS.
She received her doctoral degree in Environmental Science and Engineering, working on applying multi-sensor satellite data for habitat studies. As a postdoctoral researcher, she was involved in Indonesia's Climate Change Adaptation Initiatives Project, a collaboration between the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) and the Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia (BAPPENAS) to mainstream climate change adaptation into a local development plan. To date, Dr. Setiawati has contributed to the publication of more than thirty peer-reviewed articles and four edited books.
Prior to joining UNU-IAS, Dr. Setiawati worked as a Research Scientist at the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN); a Project Researcher at the Institute for Future Initiatives (IFI), the University of Tokyo; and a Project Researcher at the Integrated Research System for Sustainability Science (IR3S), the University of Tokyo.
