Thiago Ávila is a Digital Government Leader in Alagoas, Brazil, with a long public service career and academic background. He initiated a national digital transformation project and won a global prize.

Thiago Ávila is the actual Digital Government leader for the Alagoas State Government. With over 23 years of public service experience, he has led multiple teams in the Alagoas Government in diverse areas such as the Production of Information and Knowledge, Modernization of the Public Sector, Geo and Open Data, and Digital Government. He holds a Bachelor's and master's degree in computer science from the prestigious Federal University of Alagoas, Brazil, and is a Ph.D. Candidate in Public Administration and Government from the renowned Getúlio Vargas Foundation, Brazil. He founded and spearheaded the Digital Transformation Working Group from Brazilian States (GTD.GOV), developing a common strategy and enterprise architecture for digital government in all Brazilian States. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was awarded the Global Public Service Prize - Digitizing Public Sector category by Apolitical in 2019.
