Alexey V. Alekseenko is currently an Adjunct Professor at UNU-FLORES and an Associate Professor at the Saint Petersburg Mining University

Alexey's post-doctoral research is focused on the final stage of a mine’s life cycle when an attempt to restore and remediate a landscape can become a revitalising initiative. Alexey studies geochemical patterns of soils, plants, water, and sediments to provide insight into the interdependencies of these media as parts of the Resource Nexus and to better understand what the desired new ecosystems are. Being a member of several societies, he participates in the sessions of the UNESCO International Competence Center for Mining Engineering Education, Russian Geographical Society, and the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining (UK). His university and open public lecture series cover the topics of environmental geochemistry, land reclamation, climate change, and geoecology. To reach a wider audience beyond academia, he runs a science education Telegram channel (t.me/ecolyoha).
