Since 1985, the UNU World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) has built an impressive reputation, standing for high-quality development economics research and vital capacity building. To celebrate the institute’s 30th anniversary, UNU-WIDER organised a three-day conference from 17 to 19 September 2015 titled Mapping the Future of Development Economics. The event brought together leading development economists, practitioners, and a new generation of researchers from around the world for discussions, debate and presentations.
The event also featured the UNU-WIDER Annual Lecture 19 presented by Nobel laureate and UNU-WIDER founding father Professor Amartya Sen who spoke of the three decades of change in development.
