UNU-EHS Issues Statement on Role of Ecosystems in Disaster Risk Reduction

    The UNU Institute of Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) has issued an official statement on the role of ecosystems in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

    Released at the 2017 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction held in Cancún, Mexico, the statement outlines the challenges facing the international community in reducing the risks posed by environmental disasters, while also identifying ecosystems as an important tool for lowering risks and reducing exposure to natural hazards.

    In the statement, UNU-EHS also reaffirms its commitment to providing scientific evidence to inform the implementation of the Sendai Framework and the Paris Agreement.
