Prof. Madeleine O. Hosli has joined the United Nations University (UNU) as Director of the Bruges-based UNU Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), effective 1 June 2017.
UNU-CRIS conducts research to effect policy change on issues of regional integration (e.g., in the areas of migration and governance) and explores challenges inherent in maintaining public goods (including peace and stability). Established in 2001, UNU-CRIS has been relaunched this year with the support of the Government of Flanders (Kingdom of Belgium) and with the Free University of Brussels and the University of Ghent as co-hosts. As Director, Prof. Hosli will guide the focus, structure, and administration of the Institute.
DIrector Hosli has a distinguished career researching and teaching on European integration, international organisations, and international political economy. Since 2007, she has been a Professor of International Relations at Leiden University (Netherlands), and previously taught at the Vrije Universiteit (Netherlands), University of Michigan (USA), Graduate Institute of International Studies (Switzerland), and European Institute of Public Administration (Netherlands).
