On 13 September 2017, the UNU Land Restoration Training Programme (UNU-LRT) celebrated the graduation of 14 fellows from its annual six-month training programme on sustainable land management. The graduates come from eight countries in Africa and Asia: Ethiopia, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mongolia, Niger, Uganda, and Uzbekistan.

With this year’s graduating fellows, the total number of graduates from the programme reached 101 (46 women, 55 men).

The graduation ceremony took place at the Keldnaholt research campus of the Agricultural University of Iceland. The speakers — who included Permanent Secretary of State Sturla Sigurjonsson and UNU-LRT Director Hafdis Hanna Aegisdottir — reflected on the fellows’ successes and achievements in the training programme.
