The United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2020 will take place online from 7–16 July, under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. The HLPF annual meeting is the core United Nations platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The theme for this year’s forum is “Accelerated action and transformative pathways: realizing the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development”. In light of the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s programme places a focus on continuing sustainable development and building back better in the context of challenges posed by the pandemic.
With a comprehensive scope of work spanning the full breadth of the SDGs, UNU is uniquely placed as an interdisciplinary voice in discussions surrounding the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At HLPF2020, the UNU Institute for Natural Resources in Africa (UNU-INRA), the UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), the UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), and the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) will showcase some of UNU’s latest research and participate in a variety of sessions on sustainable development.
