The UNU Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) is now accepting applications for three online courses on transdisciplinary approaches to environmental management and planning.
Governance approaches addressing the nexus of water, energy and food or of water, soil and waste have received relatively little attention. While there are no blueprints or panaceas to this Nexus Approach, fundamental principles guide its implementation. The courses will draw from a framework presented in the recent UNU-FLORES publication Governing the Nexus: Water, Soil and Waste Resources Considering Global Change to examine environmental governance from three perspectives: global change and the Nexus Approach, financing of infrastructure projects, and strategies of implementation.
Nested within the Nexus Observatory, the online courses aim to equip decision-makers, practitioners and students anywhere in the world with an understanding of Nexus Approach principles, access to relevant knowledge in addressing capacity development needs and new skills on how to apply the acquired knowledge in practice.
