The United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) is now accepting applications for September 2020 admission to its postgraduate degree programme offering a PhD in Sustainability Science.

UNU-IAS students benefit from the unique opportunity to study in central Tokyo at a global university within the framework of the United Nations. Students will gain both academic knowledge and practical research skills by actively contributing to the institute’s policy-oriented research projects.

The programme is intended for recent graduates and young professionals and practitioners aiming to pursue internationally focused careers through employment in UN agencies, other international organisations, governments, or the private sector. All lectures are conducted in English.

Enrolled students will have the opportunity to obtain credits not only from UNU-IAS but other leading universities in Japan. Joint diplomas programmes with the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Science (UT-GSFS) and Sophia University are also available.
