The publication Greening Communities Guidance: Lifelong Learning for Climate and Sustainability Action was developed within the framework of the Greening Education Partnership (GEP), and through inclusive lifelong learning, is intended to empower cities and communities to drive meaningful climate and sustainability action.

Developed by UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning and partners, the publication was developed through a collaborative and consultative process with experts from the GEP, ensuring its relevance and adaptability across a wide range of local contexts. It complements other GEP resources that provide a comprehensive suite of tools to support climate-resilient learning systems and communities.

UNU-IAS actively contributes to the GEP as co-coordinator of Working Group 4 (Greening Communities), together with the Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

Target Audience

The event is primarily targeted at local governments, but is also highly relevant for NGOs, libraries, museums, youth organizations, Indigenous groups, educational institutions and the private sector.
