    Biographical Statement

    Katsiaryna Lozka is a PhD Fellow at UNU-CRIS since 1 November 2020. Her research, supervised by Professor Fabienne Bossuyt and Dr. Tim Haesebrouck of Ghent University, focuses on the protracted conflicts in the Eastern Partnership (EaP), in particular the EU’s engagement in the peace processes in its Eastern neighbourhood.

    Katsiaryna holds a Master’s degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges. Her master thesis focusing on EU mediation in Georgia and Ukraine was awarded the Georgian Institute of Politics (GIP) prize for the best thesis on the Eastern Partnership. Katsiaryna graduated with honours and as the Rector’s award for outstanding study results winner with a Master’s degree in European Studies from Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia).  She previously studied international politics and peace research at the University of Oslo and the Belarusian State University in Minsk.

    Before starting her PhD, Katsiaryna worked at various think tanks, NGOs and academic institutions in Belarus, Slovakia and The Netherlands. She further conducted research on European security, conflict management and human rights.
