    Biographical Statement

Isabela de Paula Salgado is part of the Joint PhD Programme of UNU-FLORES and TU Dresden. She is a member of the GRK 2250 Research Training Group and her project is focused on the sustainability and resilience assessment of novel mineral-bonded composites. Her work aims to encompass several dimensions of analysis (e.g., environmental, economic, and social) at different scales of investigation. Before joining UNU-FLORES, she specialised in the area of Structures and Materials at the Civil Engineering Department of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). During her studies, she also took part in a one-year exchange programme at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Isabela is experienced with environmental-oriented research, alternative materials, composite systems, and interdisciplinary subjects. She is especially interested in connecting the 17 SDGs and the nexus water-soil-waste thinking to the engineering framework, in addressing the complementary properties of resilience and sustainability, and in contributing to the creation of innovative materials for wide application in the future.
