On 28 May 2015, the UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) is sponsoring a workshop on the Right to a Healthy Environment as part of the Canadian Public Health Association’s Public Health 2015 conference. The workshop is being organized in collaboration with the David Suzuki Foundation and will be moderated by Professor Trevor Hancock from the University of Victoria and UNU-IIGH Director Professor Anthony Capon.
The workshop is being organized around the understanding that public health and environmental movements share many common concerns because environmental harm almost always results in harm to human health. Both also share many common approaches, including using legislative and community development strategies to bring about positive social and environmental change.
