    On 12 May 2015 the UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) will host the workshop Integrated Education Systems as a Basis for Global Transformation. This event will start at 4:00 PM at the Bonn Conference for Global Transformation.

    Education is at the heart of global transformation and thought leaders and inventors are the backbone of this change. For this workshop UNU-EHS will bring together presentations from noteworthy panellists to explore the need to re-engineer educational systems and programmes in terms of geography, inter and transdisciplinary education, and cooperation and permeability between different sectors.

    The workshop will be an important opportunity to engage with high-level actors in this field and explore this conceptual approach, particularly in light of new technological possibilities.

    UNU Vice-Rector in Europe Prof. Jakob Rhyner will deliver introductory remarks. The panel will be moderated by Ms. Anke Rasper, Senior Editor, Globalization and Environment, Deutsche Welle.

    Panellists will include:

    • Dr. Dorothea Rüland, Secretary General, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD);
    • Dr. Thomas Greiner, Sub-Department Head, Lifelong Learning, Research on Education, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF);
    • Prof. Jürgen Bode, Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences;
    • Ms. Kenneth Barrientos, Programme Officer, UNESCO-UNEVOC; and
    • Prof. Klaus Greve, Department of Geography, University of Bonn
