The UNU Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF), will co-organise an International Workshop on Capacity Building of Young Agricultural Researchers in Developing Countries. The workshop will discuss the effectiveness of on-the-job training (OJT) in capacity building for young agricultural researchers, using case studies from the On-the-Job Research Capacity Building Programme for Food Security and Environmental Conservation in Developing Countries (OJCB), a six-year project that UNU-IAS has been conducting with the support of MAFF.
In the workshop, three experienced OJCB host scientists from Kenya, Benin, and the Philippines will share case studies of how OJT for young agricultural researchers has contributed to the solutions of food and environmental issues in their respective countries. In addition, Japanese experts on international agricultural research will discuss the effectiveness of OJT in the capacity building of young agricultural researchers in developing countries.
Simultaneous English and Japanese interpretation will be available.
