    On 9–12 November 2015, the UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) will partner with the International Union of Psychological Science to organise the 4th International Workshop on Psychological Intervention After Disasters.

    This year’s workshop will focus on the Asia-Pacific region as it relates to two important facts:

    1. The region accounts for 60% of the world’s population and experiences 41% of the world’s natural disasters, which frequently cause extensive damage, loss of life, and severe hardship;
    2. Many countries in this region lack advanced infrastructure or responsive rescue systems, and attention is typically concentrated on addressing physical and infrastructural devastation with less attention being paid to effects on individuals, especially psychological adversity.

    The workshop targets researchers, educators, and practitioners from across the entire Asia-Pacific region, who have an academic background in psychology and affiliated fields, and who have experience with work on disasters.
