The 9th World Urban Forum (WUF 9), which will take place in Kuala Lumpur on 7–13 February 2018, is the first global forum on cities since Habitat III. WUF9 will be a critical conversation on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA), and the roles that all sectors of society must play in this effort.

The UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) will highlight the key issues of urban health and wellbeing that are critical to NUA, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together with Think City and the Sustainable Places Research Institute of Cardiff University, UNU-IIGH will launch two publications:

    • THRIVE: Connect, which uses photography to explore the linkages between SDG 11 and other goals
    • SCHEMA Case Studies, which examine the important and complex issues related to urban health and wellbeing. These case studies use systems approaches and place-based tools to better understand the interactions that shape our urban environments.

UNU-IIGH will also have an exhibition booth with a wide range of activities, and will host and co-host various side events on urban health. For more information, see the event announcement on the UNU-IIGH website.
