On 3 December 2015, the UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) will organise a side event on Building International Cooperation for Low-Carbon Technology Transfer in Paris during the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21).
This side event brings together several leading voices from academia and international organisations to look at the different dimensions of low-carbon technology transfer and ways international cooperation can enhance it. The session will firstly introduce the UNU-IAS project on Low Carbon Technology Transfer and then explore various activities in the area of cooperation on low-carbon technology transfer both bi-laterally with examples from Germany and Japan and also at the multi-lateral level for key sectors/technologies. The discussion will focus on effective mechanisms to support technology transfer and key action areas going forward beyond COP21.
The event will feature speakers from the International Energy Agency, the Embassy of Japan and the New Climate Institute
UNU-IAS is organizing this event as part of the Low-Carbon Technology Transfer project, which develops strategies for advancing international cooperation and partnerships on low-carbon technology.
