Women are central to discussions on population dynamics and the Sustainable Development Goals. However, women’s progress in socio-economic and legal spheres is hampered by gender-based violence (GBV) — the most widespread human rights violation.
In support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, UNU-IIGH will host a seminar by Ms. Marcela Suazo, the UNFPA Representative for Malaysia. UNFPA is one of the UN’s lead agencies working to further gender equality and women’s empowerment, and to address the physical and emotional consequences of gender-based violence.
