On 9 February 2016, the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) will host a UNU CAFÉ event with Mr. Tetsuo Kondo, Director of the UNDP Representative Office in Tokyo. This event will begin at 3 p.m. at UNU Headquarters in Tokyo.
Mr. Kondo has served in numerous duty stations, including Chad, Kosovo, Timor-Leste, Thailand, Iraq, Jordan, and New York. Before joining the UN, he served with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan as First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations in New York, and at Japanese Embassies in Zaire and France.
At this UNU CAFÉ, Mr. Kondo will share his experiences and challenges of working at the UN. He will provide hints on what is required from aspiring international civil servants and will respond to questions from the floor. He will be available after the talk to engage in further discussions.
Please note that this event will be held in Japanese only. No interpretation will be provided. To register, please visit the event page on the UNU-IAS Japanese website.
UNU CAFÉ events invite active members of the international community to share their experiences and engage in lively discussions. UNU-IAS began the event series in April 2014 particularly for college students and recent graduates interested in careers with international organizations or in global contexts.
