The UNU Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) will host two public guest lectures on 26 October 2016 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, as part of the McMaster Water Week events to discuss water-related disasters and sustainable development.

Dr. Vladimir Smakhtin will illustrate the magnitude of the problem under current and changing climates, ways of dealing with it, and how this issue is being addressed through the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Nidhi Nagabhatla will discuss how ecosystems’ degradation increases the adverse impacts of water-related disasters, with examples from coastal areas and in transboundary context. Both talks will have a global outlook with regional examples.

For registration and more information about the lecture, see the event announcement on the UNU-INWEH website.
