UNU-CRIS is co-organising this two-day conference with Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Organization of American States (OAS).
Regional organisations play a crucial role in ensuring peace and security in their respective regions. They are increasingly called upon to strengthen and sustain peace and security by supporting peace-building processes and the establishment of functioning democratic institutions in post-conflict countries and countries in transition. .
The main purpose of the International conference is to discuss the role of regional organisations in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. This conference brings together senior representatives from regional organisations, the UN, representatives from CSOs and experts.
