On the occasion of World Toilet Day, 19 November 2016, the UNU Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) will organise a two-day event in New Delhi, India.
For the first time in Indian history, a national programme — the Swachh Bharath, or Clean India Mission — has been launched to improve the health of citizens through enhancing sanitation coverage, waste management, and hygiene practices. The conference will reflect upon the programme, and examine the challenges encountered and the solutions being experimented with.
The event will also discuss the possible pathways by which technology and innovation may be leveraged towards all the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in India and in other developing countries. Academics will present their results, and practitioners will share their thoughts on where knowledge and tools generation are most needed.
For registration and more information about the conference, see the event announcement on the UNU-MERIT website.
