This annual conference brings together Nordic and international scholars for an exchange of ideas and a discussion of recent results within theoretical and applied development economics research.
The Development Economics Research Group (DERG) at the University of Copenhagen and the United Nations University World Institute of Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) are jointly organizing the 2011 Nordic Conference in Development Economics. The conference aims at bringing together Nordic and international scholars for an exchange of ideas and a discussion of recent results within theoretical and applied development economics research.
The Conference is an annual event in the Nordic countries and this year features two prominent keynote speakers and a special session on trade and industrial policy.
Keynote Speakers
The special session on trade and industrial policy will be organized together with Dr. John Page, Senior Fellow, The Brookings Institution (formerly Chief Economist for Africa and Director, Poverty Reduction, at the World Bank). Dr. Page is presently external UNU-WIDER Project Director for the joint Brookings-UNU-WIDER project on Learning to Compete (L2C): Accelerating Industrial Development in Africa.
