This one-day seminar seeks to demonstrate how young individuals can identify robust solutions to the collective problems faced by humanity and inspire them to seek careers in sustainability research.
On Friday, 12 August, the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS), together with Hosei University and iuventum, a German-based NGO, will join efforts to celebrate International Youth Day with a seminar that aims to inspire students to consider careers in research and sustainability.
The “International Youth Day: Inspiring the Next Generation of Researchers in Sustainability” event will offer high school, undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to reflect upon how they may develop practical initiatives within their own spheres of influence and help build a more sustainable world.
The seminar will be delivered by youth speaking to youth, focusing on academic works that raise awareness and demonstrate how young individuals can identify robust solutions to the collective problems faced by humanity, with hopes that it will inspire the next generation to engage with sustainability research.
The seminar will be held at UNU Headquarters in Tokyo.
