This event on knowledge transfer of cutting-edge findings and solutions in the field of early diagnosis and preventive medicine for achieving sustainable global health is a multidisciplinary, three-day forum for leading medical experts, stakeholders, policy makers, decision makers and practitioners from diverse fields.
The conference is organized under the patronage of the Federal German Minister for Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Annette Schavan. Official organizers are the University of Heidelberg, the United Nations University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) and Gemini AG – Association for Knowledge Transfer and Implementation, in cooperation with and supported by CEL (Center for Evolutionary Learning), UNESCO-UNEVOC (UNESCO’s International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training) and IHPH (Institute for Hygiene and Public Health of the University of Bonn).
The aim is to share knowledge, best practices and insights for working on a holistic strategy for effectively achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the UN Decades of “Education for Sustainable Development” and “Water for Life” with regard to sustainable global health.
The participants will especially look into a possible shift of paradigms from a mere repair approach towards disease prevention and health promotion through early warning systems, early diagnosis and preventive medicine.
