On 2–3 December, the UNU Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) and UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP) will co-organize, in cooperation with the School of Planning and Architecture Bhopal, APN, and Kyoto University, a two-day International Workshop on “Sustainable Cities Generating Climate Co-benefits in Urban Areas” in Bhopal, India.
The workshop will consist of three sessions:
- The first session will discuss issues pertaining to identification of large urban co-benefits or positive impacts for integrating climate change with local sustainable development goals in cities.
- The second session will look at prevailing reuse and recycling practices that could be considered in establishing a Sound Material Cycle Society.
- In the last session, experts from UNU-IAS will demonstrate the use of the Co-benefits Assessment Tool (a simulation model designed for evaluating the climate co-benefits of an urban energy system), and participants will use their own city data to generate meaningful results.
