Summer Walker joined the United Nations University Office in New York as Drug Policy Project Manager in February 2015. Ms. Walker holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from Colgate University.
Prior to joining UNU, Ms. Walker worked in Berlin and New York as a freelance researcher and writer for various international NGOs and commercial organizations, and has written on various organized crime and drug-related issues including for the West Africa Commission on Drugs and the Center on International Cooperation. Previously, Ms. Walker worked at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation on transnational organized crime, development and governance issues, as well as peacebuilding issues. Ms. Walker has worked in human rights, international policy, and journalism in Cairo, Ramallah, and Phnom Penh.
