Nyasha Juliana Tirivayi is an Affiliated Researcher at UNU-MERIT and a Social Policy Manager at UNICEF’s Office of Research-Innocenti, where she manages social policy research, including impact evaluations and social protection system research.

Nyasha leads key projects such as the Transfer Project and primary research under the GRASSP (Gender Responsive Age Sensitive Social Protection) programme. Prior to joining UNICEF, she was previously a Research Fellow at UNU-MERIT where she managed impact and operational evaluations of social policy and humanitarian programs in various African countries. She also developed and taught impact evaluation courses to doctoral students and conducted research on adolescent health and the impacts of social protection and agricultural programs on food security, household welfare and child wellbeing.

Prior to UNU, Nyasha was a social protection specialist at FAO where she promoted linkages between social protection and agriculture. In the past, she also worked as a gender equality advocate and trainer in research methods and social protection. She has published journal articles, book chapters and a book in the fields of public health, development economics, gender and education.
