Dr. Cheo works with the PACET Division at UNU-VIE. He is leading research on Water. in the context of Water Energy and Food Nexus, including Climate Change topics. He is also involved in strategic project development, acquisition of funds and project implementation.

He has a broad interest in water (groundwater) management, climate action and in building community resilience through innovative climate smart and business solutions. In particular, he has been leading the implementation of agrivoltaics systems to prove the technical and socioeconomic viability, and gain a deeper understanding of the synergies and interactions within the Water Energy and Food Nexus for African countries.  He has also been leading in the design and implementation of smart irrigation systems using Internet of Things (IoT) and sensory systems for ensuring real-time water allocation and efficiency. Dr. Cheo is also contributing in capacity-building and outreach activities in the framework of PAUWES, WASCAL and UNU-EHS/University of Bonn joint MSc programme on Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security. Dr. Cheo has participated in the technical analysis of biennial update reports (BURs) from developing country Parties. He is also a technical expert participating in the technical expert review of the biennial transparency reports (BTR).

Dr Cheo holds a PhD in Environmental and Resource Management (ERM), from the Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) in Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany. His PhD thesis on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM): Case study of the Far-North region, Cameroon was published as monographs by the Verlag Dr. Kovač. Thereby, he specialized in estimating water balance as defined by the EU-water framework directive and completed fieldwork focused on identifying and evaluating water resources management challenges and making policy recommendations.

For his earlier studies, Dr. Cheo focused on popularizing the implications of climate change on water resources to policymakers, stakeholders and vulnerable farmers; with the aim of influencing the decisions they make. During his master's thesis at the Department of Environmental Geology, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany, Dr. Cheo researched on climate change and the vulnerability of water resource in Northern Cameroon.
