Successful e-learning requires new organizational and pedagogical models that at times may be difficult to evaluate using traditional higher education quality assurance measures. As a result, a number of institutions are collaborating to design new quality assurance tools that reflect the innovative nature of e-learning. The UNU is involved with the following quality assurance projects.
UNU has been collaborating with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR)
ICT-Programme to develop quality protocols for training and educational activities. The ICT-KM Program of the CGIAR promotes and supports the use of information and communications technology (ICT) and knowledge management (KM) to improve the effectiveness of the CGIAR System’s work on behalf of the poor in developing countries.
UNU is a member of the European Foundation for Quality in E-Learning (EFQUEL), the purpose of which is to involve actors in a European community of users and experts to share experiences on how e-learning can be used to strengthen individual, organisational, local and regional development, digital and learning literacy, and promote social cohesion.
The UNU Vice-Rectorate in Europe (UNU-ViE) is a member of Open ECBCheck, a community-driven initiative that has been developed through joint efforts of 25 international capacity building agencies and their partners. The common goal of this initiative is a new accreditation and quality improvement scheme for e-learning programmes in international capacity building.
