The Science and Technology Development Fund of Macao SAR has released the preliminary results of its 2012 Macau Science and Technology Awards.
Research conducted by the United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST), located in Macao, in collaboration with University of Macau, on the rCOS (Refinement of Component and Object Systems) method has been selected to receive the Second Place Award in the Natural Science. The winning project was “rCOS: a formal model-driven engineering method for component-based software”.
Eleven jury members, including renowned scientists from Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Chinese Taipei, submitted the suggested award list to the Macao Chief Executive on 22 June 2012. A presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place in October.
The Science and Technology Awards aim to reward those who “make contribution to local scientific and technological activities, inspire the enthusiasm and creativity of local scientists and technologists, and accelerate the development of scientific and technological undertakings in Macao”. This year marks the first time these awards have been given.
