On 10 December 2013 the UNU Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) in Dresden, Germany celebrated its first anniversary of operation and its mission to promote a nexus approach to the sustainable management of water, soil and waste. Throughout its successful first year the institute assembled its team, with highlights including a series of new publications and the International Kick-off Workshop on Advancing a Nexus Approach to the Sustainable Management of Water, Soil and Waste.
Another highlight of 2013 was the September institute visit by UNU Rector Dr. David Malone. Rector Malone met the new institute team, while also engaging with prominent German State officials and the Rector of Technische Universität Dresden (TUD).
