In this video Emilia Pires joins UNU Rector David Malone to share her thoughts on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. She begins by recounting her experience with Timor-Leste’s post-conflict governance transition and the importance of building capacity to produce competent “client”-focused public services that can effectively support broader development. Minister Pires shares her experience as a member of the High-level Panel advising the UN on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, noting the crucial role of peacebuilding and state-building in the Sustainable Development Goals. She emphasizes the need for donors and planners to recognize and put trust in the unique successes and experiences of each developing country, acknowledging that quantity of development progress should not overshadow quality.
