UNU-ISP Now Accepting Applications for 2014 Postgraduate Degree Programmes

    The UNU Institute for Sustainability and Peace (Tokyo) is now accepting applications for September 2014 enrollment in its Master of Science in Sustainability and PhD in Sustainability Science degree programmes.

    The UNU-ISP two-year Master of Science in Sustainability programme addresses pressing global issues of sustainability, including climate change and biodiversity, through an innovative, interdisciplinary approach that integrates the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. It seeks to produce leading researchers with extensive knowledge and problem-solving skills.

    Students studying in these prrogrammes are encouraged to take the joint diploma programme offered by UNU-ISP and the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (UT-GSFS). Those who successfully complete the requirements of the UNU-ISP MSc degree programme will be awarded a Master of Science in Sustainability degree from UNU-ISP, and will also receive a joint UNU-ISP/UT-GSFS diploma in Resilience for Sustainability if they complete the additional requirements.

    The UNU-ISP three-year PhD in Sustainability Science programme aims to produce scholars who will become leading researchers in the area of sustainability science. Students will gain critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as technical literacy in addressing sustainability problems.

    Students who successfully complete the requirements of the UNU-ISP PhD degree will be awarded a PhD degree in Sustainability Science from UNU-ISP, and will also receive a joint UNU-ISP/UT-GSFS diploma in Leadership for Sustainability if they complete the additional requirements.

    These programmes are intended for recent graduates, professionals and practitioners wishing to develop an international career through employment in United Nations agencies, other international organizations, governments, civil society or the private sector.

    Applications must be received by 28 February 2014 for the master’s degree programme and by 30 April 2014 for the PhD degree programme. Interested applicants must submit all application documents by these deadlines through the online application form.
