Visiting Scholar Programme

Luang Prabang IHC Safeguarding Workshop

Scope of the Programme

UNU-FLORES welcomes qualified scholars to join the Institute to research on the Resource Nexus in relation to agri-food and forest systems, circular economy, climate change, biodiversity, as well as other resource management disciplines. UNU-FLORES’s Visiting Scholar Programme offers a unique opportunity for interested candidates to present their proposed research topic to a selection committee. The programme provides scholars access to UNU-FLORES facilities so that they can conduct research on an approved topic while in residence. The visiting scholar will participate in activities and contribute to publications at the Institute.

Visiting scholars typically spend between three and 12 months conducting research at UNU-FLORES. During this time, they prepare one or more papers to be considered for publishing with UNU-FLORES or leading journals, and present two seminars in their field of research.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should hold a PhD in a key research area of UNU-FLORES and should currently  be a researcher at a research institution, university, or governmental policy administration and are interested in spending a sabbatical with UNU-FLORES. A good publication record is advantageous. Women applicants from developing countries are highly encouraged to apply.

Available Support

UNU-FLORES provides an excellent research platform and access to resources such as library support, as well as international opportunities for collaboration on research areas. The programme will not support fieldwork aimed at collecting data.

Kindly note that UNU-FLORES is not in a position to provide financial support to Visiting Scholar applicants.
