Zita has an expertise in the fields of environmental analytical chemistry, bioremediation, benthic ecology and chemical ecology. She has worked on environmental monitoring projects in Germany, where she mainly carried out analysis of different types of samples from river ecosystems on metalloid compounds. In Oldenburg she worked on chemical and microbial signaling processes in the marine environment.
At the UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), Zita is member of the Environmental Vulnerability and Energy Security Section. She is conducting research in the field of pesticide fate monitoring and modeling in the Lower Mekong, Vietnam. She is responsible for management activities, assists the supervision and guidance of Ph.D. students and involved in the organization of the Ph.D. programme within the WISDOM project.
