Biographical Statement

Thor H. Asgeirsson has worked for the Marine Research Institute (MRI) as a scientist since 1996. Prior to joining the MRI he taught in several junior colleges in Iceland. His research has mainly been on fish juvenile ecology and he has written and published several articles on the subject. In 1999, Mr. Asgeirsson joined the UNU Fisheries Training Programme (UNU-FTP) as a deputy programme director and in his work has travelled extensively to UNU-FTP partner countries to explore and discuss fisheries and training needs. Mr. Asgeirsson has also done consultancy work for the Icelandic International Development Agency.
