Biographical Statement

Deepali Khetriwal holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pune, India and an M.Sc. in International Management from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. She has more than 7 years of experience of research in e-waste, starting in 2004 with her master’s degree thesis on e-waste management in Switzerland and India. She is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student looking at modelling consumer behaviour and technological change to forecast future e-waste quantities.

Currently based in London, she is engaged in the StEP Initiative’s Task Force Capacity Building. She was involved in the conceptualization and management of the NVMP-StEP E-waste Summer Schools which brought together e-waste researchers from around the world. Previously based in Mumbai, Deepali has worked as a consultant to the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (Empa) e-waste project in India and has also worked on aspects of policy, recycling technology and informal sector engagement. She is the author of several publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research and findings at various international conferences.
