Dr. Kongkea Phan joined UNU-IIGH in March 2014 as part of the Climate Change and Health programme. He has been actively involved in many arsenic research projects in the Mekong River basin of Cambodia, specifically investigating arsenic geochemistry and health risks among Cambodian residents from oral ingestion of contaminated groundwater and food.
His research interests mainly focus on environmental contamination and health risk assessment through trace elements and the development of exposure biomarkers. He has an interest in climate change and health, including water quality analysis and enhancement of appropriate technologies for drinking water treatment in developing countries.
