    Biographical Statement

    Dr Chew is a research fellow at the United Nations University – International Institute for Software Technology. He holds a PhD in Media and Information Studies from Michigan State University. He earned his M.A. in Communication Studies and B.A.(First Class Honours) from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

    Dr Chew’s research interests are information and communication technology for development (ICT4D) and broadband adoption. His current projects include an agricultural knowledge management system in Lao PDR, a mobile phones impact study in Coimbatore, India, funded by the International Development Research Centre, Canada, and a mobiles-for-learning project in collaboration with UNESCO. Dr Chew has also participated in research funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Kellogg Foundation. Since 2009, he has published more than 20 journal articles and conference papers related to the impact of information and communication systems.
