    Biographical Statement

    Prior to joining  UNU-INRA, Effiom Oku was a Lecturer and Researcher with the Department of Soil Science, University of Abuja, Nigeria.

    He holds a Ph.D in Soil Physics from the University of Ibadan. He is a Scholar of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy and also an alumnus of the College on Soil Physics of the same Centre. He is also a member of the International Union of Soil Sciences, Soil Science Society of Nigeria, a Life member of the Soil Conservation Society of India and a member of the West African Network for Soil Physics. His research interests and priority areas have focused on soil hydrology, soil and water conservation with a focus on aspects of long term effects of climate change on soil and water, rehabilitation of badlands and waste water treatment using vetiver system.  He has made international presentations, widely published in international peer reviewed Journals. He is  a peer-reviewer for  conference manuscripts and Journals.
