Claudia Luepschen is a Research Associate at the UNU Institute for the Advanced Studies of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) SCYCLE operating unit. Claudia focuses her work in particular on policy research for zero waste strategies and closed-loop industrial/societal systems as well as challenges and strategies to e-waste management. Claudia co-coordinates the Task Force Capacity Building of the international, multi-stakeholder Solving the E-waste Problem (StEP) Initiative that engages in education, training and capacity development to increase public, scientific and business awareness regarding the global e-waste problem. She coordinates the annual StEP E-waste Summer School and contributes to the maintenance of the UNU-hosted StEP Secretariat where she plans and manages research projects, conferences and workshops for StEP.
Claudia studied Chinese, English and Economics at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn, Germany. Prior to joining UNU in 2005, Claudia worked as an associate to the minister’s office at the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Claudia also worked for the former Capacity Building International (InWEnt) where she was responsible for the implementation of several projects on behalf of the German Ministry of Economic and Development Cooperation. Work experience abroad includes the UK and China.
